Vinyl Singles Discography

Matrix Dates: Italian records have dates etched in the runoff groove of the vinyl along with the matrix numbers. These dates, which often vary from side to side, are stamped in the vinyl in European date format, such as 12-9-73 (indicating September 12, 1973), and are often followed by a Roman numeral. Known matrix dates for each side of a single, and the Roman numerals (which likely indicate the mother or stamper), are indicated in this discography.

S.I.A.E. Stamps: S.I.A.E. stands for the Società Italiana degli Autori ed Editori. It is the Italian society for authors and publishers and was formed in 1970 to protect copyright interests in Italy. S.I.A.E. stamps can be found on the labels of all Pink Floyd records released in Italy from 1970 on. There are three distinct types:

1. 1970-1975 - A round double circle S.I.A.E. stamp with the letters SIAE in the center. Text around the edge is: "SOCIETA ITALIANA DEGLI AUTORI ED EDITORI - ROMA" This stamp was done in blue until mid-1973, and in either red or purple thereafter.
   
2. 1975-1979 - A round double circle S.I.A.E. stamp with the letters SIAE in the center. Text around the edge is: "SOCIETA ITALIANA DEGLI aUTORI ED EDITORI - ROMA" The "S" in SOCIETA is backwards, and the "a" in aUTORI is lower case. Sometimes there is a star in front of SIAE.
   
3. 1978-1996 - A round double circle S.I.A.E. stamp with the letters SIAE and the number "7" under the letters, in the center. Text around the edge is: "SOCIETA ITALIANA DEGLI aUTORI ED EDITORI - ROMA" The "S" in SOCIETA is backwards, and the "a" in aUTORI is lower case.
