"Christmas on Earth Continued" Barry Fantoni poster
December 22, 1967

1d1) "Christmas on Earth Continued" Barry Fantoni poster
Date & Venue: Grand and National Halls, Kensington Olympia, London, England, December 22, 1967
Bands: Jimi Hendrix Experience, Eric Burdon & the Animals, The Who, The Move, The Pink Floyd, Keith West & Tomorrow, Graham Bond Organisation, The Soft Machine, Sam Gopal Dream. Host John Peel.
Artist: Barry Fantoni
Poster Size: 29 1/2" X 19 3/4"
Notes: Original poster for the "Christmas on Earth Continued" concert at the Grand and National Halls, Kensington Olympia in London, England on December 22, 1967.
In the bottom border are the following credits:

"PRINTED IN ENGLAND AT THE CURWEN PRESS FOR FANPRINTS, LONDON, S.W.9" and "© BARRY FANTONI 1967."
"Fanprints" is believed to be short for Fantoni Prints. The credit line with "Fanprints" in it can also be found on Fantoni's Dylan poster from 1967.

* This poster was part of the John Peel Archive (John Peel MC'd the show). Identified as the original poster for the show, it was sold at auction by a major London auction house after John Peel's death. Very scarce. The show was poorly advertised (not many posters were made and put up) and, as a result was poorly attended. It was also a bad concert for Pink Floyd. Andrew King, their manager wrote: "The evening was gruesome because the Floyd were falling apart in front of our eyes in an alarming manner. I saw them worse when we were in America but this was bad enough. It gives me shivers even to think of it."

1d2) Merchandise Poster with shortened credits

Poster Size: 29 5/8" X 19 15/16"
Notes: A poster for the "Christmas on Earth Continued" concert at the Grand and National Halls, Kensington Olympia in London, England on December 22, 1967.
The poster credits in the bottom border have been changed to read:

"PRINTED IN ENGLAND AT THE CURWEN PRESS." and "© BARRY FANTONI 1967."
Also, the size of the poster has been slightly increased.

* This poster, with the shortened credits, is quite probably a merchandise poster that was printed in quantities to be sold after the show (perhaps to make up for some of the lost money from the event). Relatively common (compared to the original). Numerous near mint copies of this one have turned up over the years, and it has been found in sales lists and auction houses in nearly every decade since the concert. Numerous Pink Floyd and Hendrix poster collectors have a copy in their collection.
