Poster Tales: In October 1987, when Pink Floyd visited Florida on their Momentary Lapse of Reason tour, I spent some time with the band at the Don Cesar hotel in St. Petersburg Beach. During one of our meetings, I spoke with Nick Mason and Richard Wright at length about concert posters. We talked about old U.K. posters and my Pink Floyd poster collection. At some point, I asked them whether they were interested in obtaining any old Pink Floyd concert posters. They owned some of the old British concert posters, but they told me that they were interested in getting some from the U.S. tours. At the time, I knew that you could buy old posters from ArtRock*, so I gave them the current ArtRock catalog and put them in touch with Phil Cushway, who ran ArtRock. When the tour visited Michigan the following month, they got in touch with Phil and they acquired copies of the old 1967 Pink Floyd Fillmore posters from him in exchange for signing a number of posters.
* For those of you who are unfamiliar with the old Artrock catalogs, they used to send out beautiful full-color catalogs of posters for sale. Here is an example of one of their catalogs. This is the front cover and page 4 of the Artrock catalog #20 from 1993 (after they moved to San Francisco).
